Peacock Butterfly & More

Today I finally caught a beautiful peacock butterfly on camera. While feeding honeybees are extremely placid and easy to shoot, butterflies tend to flutter around… well, like butterflies! The peacock was so big (easily over 5 cm) that most of the pictures I kept were shot without my usual Marumi DHG Achromat +3 macro filter, just with fully extended 200 mm zoom. I did keep a few macro shots as well, so you can observe the relatively crushed depth of field.

In late March, I had also visited the small zoo in nearby Straubing with some extremely demotivated animals. I kept the funniest pictures of inmates demonstratively looking away from visitors.

2017-03-06: Moved both galleries from Google Photos to my own host, and deleted some less interesting pictures that had originally been linked.
